Victoria School (VS), established in 1876, is an autonomous school that is strong in spirit, rich in tradition and provides a broad-based holistic education. As a Singapore Quality Class (SQC) and People Developer Standard institution, VS is committed to bringing out the best in staff and pupils. Its sound processes have led it to achieve a range of awards including the Best Practice for Teaching and Learning, Character and Citizenship Education, Student All-Round Development, Staff Well-Being, and Development and Partnership.

Character and Citizenship Education

The school seeks to groom every Victorian to be an upright and balanced individuals with leadership qualities The whole-school Character & Leadership Education (CLE) programme aims to inculcate values, build social-emotional mastery and leadership competencies so that Victorian are developed to be the best that they can be, embodying the qualities of a social innovator and passionate learner. We hope for every Victorian to become useful citizens who have a positive presence in society.

Student All- Round Development

VS aims to nurture every Victorian to be the Gentleman, Professional and Sportsman who makes tangible contributions to his family, work, community and nation. Aligned to the school vision, Victoria School provides an all-round education with emphasis on 21st century competencies to prepare Victorians to thrive in a fast-changing and highly connected world. Guided by the school vision, mission, values and motto, school has identified character and leadership, cognitive, community, physical and aesthetics as the five key areas for student development. Strategies and programmes are developed to meet the needs in these areas for the different segments of students.

Staff Well-Being and Development

In Victoria, we recognise that our staff is our most valuable asset and that staff learning and development is key to our success in meeting stakeholders’ expectations. Thus the school is committed to providing all our staff with the learning that will equip them with the knowledge, skills and competencies they require for optimum performance and will make every effort to ensure that all members of our staff are able to develop professionally and personally.

Teaching and Learning

Victoria provides a rigorous and customised curriculum for our students, while incorporating 21st century competencies. As a dual track school offering both the O level and Integrated Programme, the school’s teaching and learning practices are differentiated to meet the needs of our students. Innovative approaches are developed in the curriculum, and students have opportunities to take part in enrichment activities and electives to further enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities. Teaching and learning practices are constantly reviewed and assessment data is used to inform instruction.

To enrich the quality of education for our students, VS forms synergistic partnerships with the different partner segments to enhance the quality of holistic education it provided. The school’s key stakeholders are parents, VS Parent Support Group (VS PSG), partner schools in the Victoria-Cedar Alliance (Cedar Girls’ Secondary School and Victoria Junior College), Victoria Advisory Committee (VAC), Old Victorians’ Association and alumni, community and education partners. The school focuses on forming alliances with key partners and ensure that these collaborations are leveraged to enhance the Victorian learning experience as well as support staff learning and development.
